Known as the Covered Bridge Capital of Alabama, Blount County celebrates its roots each year with the annual Blount County Covered Bridge Festival. Every October on the fourth Saturday the Festival offers events and activities including a pancake breakfast, arts and crafts, a 5K and Fun Run, car show, a Fall Colors River Walk, food, entertainment, quilt show, and much more.
Friends of the Locust Fork River has a booth and organizes the Fall Colors River Walk. Led by Sam Howell, the group will walk along the Locust Fork River from Swann Covered Bridge to Powell Falls. Easy to moderate hike. We will meet Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 9:30 am behind the Tonka Shell gas station at the intersection of Highways 160 & 79 in Cleveland. Wear comfortable walking shoes, and dress for the weather. Bring your camera, water, and a brown bag lunch.
Our events are free. Please register to authorize the Waiver – one per family. Register adults individually so that each person signs his/her own waiver. After you register we will send detailed information about the float.
